Children's Religious Education

Any adult participating in Children's Religious Education must be VIRTUS certified before volunteering. For more information about VIRTUS and to locate a training session near you, visit https://www.virtusonline.org/virtus/.

Children's Mass

Children's mass is the first Sunday of every month (August - May) at the 11 A.M. at Sacred Heart. During this mass, the children are involved by doing the parts of the mass as lectors, ushers, gift bearers, greeters, and altar servers.  If your children would like to get involved with this ministry, please email sheila@shsc.org or call the parish office at 913-772-2424.

Children's Liturgy

Children's Liturgy volunteers teach children, in their own words, about scripture during the Liturgy of the Word. Children's Liturgy takes each Sunday at mass from August through May. Children are invited to the front of the church for a blessing before being escorted to the Parish Hall for instruction during the Liturgy of the Word. Children then rejoin the congregation after conclusion of the Liturgy of the Word.

School of Religion / Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD)

For those children that do not attend Catholic school, parishes provide instructional opportunities to support students' spiritual development and to help students prepare for the Sacraments. Instruction takes place on Wednesday evenings at 6 PM (August - May) in the Xavier Preschool Building (next to Sacred Heart Catholic Church). Click here to download the CCD registration form.
