Altar Societies
St. Casimir Altar Society
The St. Casimir Altar Society meets the 2nd Thursday of each month in the St. Casimir Parish Hall at 9:30 AM.
The purpose of the St. Casimir Altar Society is to promote true Christian charity, the love of God, our neighbor, and Christian family life. In particular, to foster love for the House of God and to labor for its proper adornment and cleanliness.
The Altar Society takes care of the immediate needs of the altar at St. Casimir Church and supplies the needs of the sacristy and to render assistance when and where necessary.
Putting these objectives into action, the following are some of the needs that the Society addresses:
-
Providing funeral dinners for the families of our parishioners
-
Cleaning the Altar area and Sacristy at St. Casimir Church
-
Purchasing supplies needed for the Altar
-
Participating in Parish bake sales, raffles, and continental breakfasts
-
Making cash donations to Catholic charities to provide utility payment assistance to a family for the Christmas season
-
Providing a yearly donation to the Xavier Catholic School's Ignite the Green and White auction and fundraiser
Sacred Heart Altar Society
The Sacred Heart Altar Society welcomes new members including women who have recently joined our parish or those women who have been longtime members of the parish but never joined the Altar Society.
The Society meets on the first Wednesday of every month (except July and August) in the Parish Center at 12:15 PM with recitation of the rosary. Members take turns serving as hostesses and meetings begin with a social time followed by a business meeting.
Yearly society dues are $5 and officers are elected for 2-year terms. Even if you are unable to attend meetings, you can still be a member of the Society. Members are advised on what is going on through the bulletin and the group also has a Calling Committee to keep members informed on upcoming events.
The two main fundraisers each year are the April Bake Sale and the Country Store at the Fall Fest.
The Altar Society serves the Parish and community by:
-
Purchasing the Altar bread and wine
-
Cleaning the altar
-
Donating to St. Vincent's Clinic, Leavenworth Assistance Center, Backpack Buddies, Catholic Charities, and Pennies for Priests
-
