Liturgical Ministries

  • Sacristan: One who carefully arranges the liturgical books, the vestments, and other things necessary in the celebration of Mass.

  • Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion: Lay ministers may be deputed to help distribute Holy Communion. Training is available.

  • Lector: Laypersons may be commissioned to proclaim the readings from Sacred Scripture. They should be truly suited to perform this function and should receive careful preparation so that the faithful by listening to the readings from the sacred
texts may develop in their hearts a warm and living love for Sacred Scripture.

  • Usher: Those who meet the faithful at the church entrance, lead them to appropriate places, and take up the collection in the church.

  • Gift Bearers: Those who bring up the gifts during the offertory.

  • Greeter: Those who meet the faithful at the church entrance.

  • Altar Server: Altar servers assist the priest and the deacon, may carry the cross, candles, and the thurible. Children may serve as altar servers once trained, which typically is when they are in 4th grade or older.

Music Ministries

The goal and purpose of Music Ministry is to enhance the experience of worship by heightening the Word of God with music and to provide beauty to the liturgy through music.

  • Instrumentalist

  • Cantors: Cantors are experienced singers who lead the assembly at Mass when there is no choir.

  • Choir: The choir meets every Wednesday at 7 PM at Sacred Heart Church. The choir sings every other weekend.
