St. Joseph’s Fish & Shrimp Supper
Come dine with us Fridays during Lent. St. Joseph’s Church, Nortonville, KS 5-7pm. Meal includes: Fried and Baked Fish, Fried Shrimp, Potato, Salad, Roll, Tea/Coffee, and Choice of Dessert. $8.00—Ages 11 and up; $4.00—Ages 4-10; Free—Ages 0-3
Carry out orders call 886-3510. Every Friday from February 19th through March 26th. No Supper will be held on Good Friday, April 2nd. Proceeds benefits St. Joseph’s Church.

Eucharistic Adoration at St. Casimir
Thank you to all who participated in adoration this month. Our next Eucharistic Adoration will be on the First Tuesday, March 2, 2010, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Please check out the sign up sheet in the back of St. Casimir. 

Birthright Information Night
March 4, 2010, at 7pm at the Lvn Public Library in the East Meeting Room.  We are hoping to increase our volunteer staff and find individuals who will work on special projects.  This meeting will cover “The Charter Document of Birthright”, our philosophy, our characteristics, local statistics and the requirements for volunteering.  Anyone interested in knowing more about Birthright is invited. This meeting is required for volunteering. 

Kindergarten Round-Up & Preschool Open House
The Share the Faith Mass and Kindergarten Round-Up is Friday, March 5. Mass is at 8:30am at Sacred Heart Church, with tour of school afterwards. Pre-School Open House and registration is Sunday, March 7 from 12:00-3:00pm. The Preschool is located next to St. Casimir Church on Pennsylvania. Birthright Volunteer Training Day, March 6, 2010, 9am to 4 pm at Birthright, 221-A Delaware; Leavenworth
Come be a part of a positive organization whose objective is to help pregnant women carry their babies to term.  This is training for anyone interested in volunteering at the Birthright center, talking with the women who come in for help, running the pregnancy test, answering the phone, etc.  You must register for the training, please call Margaret McNamee 913-651-4887, or the Birthright center 913-682-2700.Both meetings are required for volunteering.

The College of St. Benedict/St. John’s University Chamber Choir
In Concert ~ Saturday March 6, 2010, 7:30 p.m. ~ St. Joseph’s Catholic Church ~ 306 North Broadway Street  The College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University are nationally recognized liberal arts colleges and ranked as two of the top three Catholic colleges in the nation. They share one academic program and students attend classes as well as participate in activities together on both campuses.  The Chamber Choir has been in existence since 1970 and is now one of the major touring ensembles of the combined music department.  This concert is part of the choir’s 2009-2010 Concert Season. Under the direction of Dr. Axel Theimer, a native of Austria and a former member of the Vienna Boy’s Choir, who has been on the music faculty at The College of St. Benedict/St. John’s University since 1969, the 50 member choir will perform in select cities in Minnesota, Iowa, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas. Traditionally the program features a wide variety of sacred and secular music, ranging from the polyphony of the Renaissance to masterworks of the 20th century.  This year’s performance will, amongst others, include compositions by Benjamin Britten, J.P. Sweelinck, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Eric Whitacre, Pablo Casals, Edwin Fissinger, Moses Hogan, and Eric Barnum. Admission to the concert is free, but donations are encouraged and welcomed to help defray travel costs.  For more information call the parish office at (913) 682-3953.

Grief Workshop
The Trinity Lutheran Church located at 2101 10th Ave. -Leavenworth is sponsoring  a grief workshop entitled “Grief, It Ain’t No 100 yd. Dash”. The Presenter is Dr. Harold Ivan Smith, Saturday, March 13, 2010 from 9:00 am–noon.  The workshop is free to the public. To Register contact Denise Sprengeler at 682-7474. 

Save the Date
The Women of St. Ignatius Parish, Fort Leavenworth, KS, invite you to join us for our Lenten Retreat on Thursday, March 25.. Our speaker is Mark Shea, a well known Catholic author, who will talk on his latest books– a 3-part series called “Mary, Mother of  the Son”. The retreat will be held at the Ft. Leavenworth Main Chapel from 0845-1430. Cost: $20.00. Donation includes: Childcare, light breakfast, presentation, lunch, Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, and Reconciliation. Quarterly Baptismal Preparation Class
The next Baptismal Prep Class for parents and sponsors will be Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 6:30 pm in the St. Casimir hall. Please call the office at 772-2424 for more information and to register.
